In performance, we start as a duet:
Mahalakshmi on keyboard & vocals Emam on tabla & percussion. We add other musicians as per requirements of the venue and the program. We call our full ensemble MahaMaya Band. Over the years, we have collaborated with amazing musicians from around the world and our albums are a testament to this. Our music is heavily influenced by Indian classical music and at times Jazz, rock as well as Middle Eastern and Eastern European music. In performance, the sound of our ensemble depends on the musicians that are performing with us. We bring the audience music that is uplifting and unique, from the heart. All original compositions by us (Mahalakshmi and Emam). |
